Relocation

Overview.

For most people, relocating a laboratory or an office is a major undertaking. It’s certainly not something they do every day and for many it’s difficult to know where to start. It can be a very stressful time as there are many things to consider:-

• Where to start?

• What do we take and what do we leave behind?

• What order do we do things in?

• How do we get things down the stairs?

• How do we pack things?

• What about the chemicals?

• How do we move the frozen materials?

• Is there enough time? etc etc……….

Our relocation service provides a step by step solution that is designed to address all aspects of your move in a structured and considerate manner. We adopt a fully consultative approach; from initial site visit, to project planning, through to the physical move itself, our Team will work with you to ensure mutual understanding and agreement at all times.

Packing and preparation.

We can supply a variety of crates and packing materials for use during your move. These can be delivered as far ahead of the date as you would like and collected at your request after the event.

We are happy to undertake packing on your behalf or advise you on how best to get the job done if you wish to undertake your own packing and certain specialist scientific equipment.

Bubble wrap, cling film, tissue and other materials are also available as are labels in a variety of colors as required.

Project Management

A safe and successful relocation can only be achieved by careful planning. Our experienced project co-coordinators will oversee every aspect of your move from start to finish. They will work closely with you and your organization to ensure that every details is considered and agreed ahead of the actual move. They will take responsibility for :-

Provision and management of all personnel
Provision of appropriate vehicles
Provision of all specialist lifting and transportation equipment
Planning and agreement on exit and entry routes from premises
Provision of all safety equipment
Provision of all packaging materials (and removal if required)
Planning and agreement on the project timetable and sequence
Liaison with 3rd parties e.g. Facilities departments, local councils, services providers, lift engineers etc.
Ensuring customer understands the provision of insurance cover

Relocations and access:

Although many customers appreciate the difficulties presented by older buildings, it is often the case that modern, high technology premises can be just as problematic. A building that is beautifully designed may not be particularly practical when it comes to movement of equipment!

Lifts are often inadequate in terms of size and load capacity. Doorways can be non-standard or poorly positioned and corridors too narrow with tight corners and a variety of obstacles placed in the way. Older premises may have certain special considerations associated with listed buildings.

Architectural restraints in respect of doors, windows and floors all need to be given careful attention. Benchmark has many years of experience of working within these environments and has undertaken many assignments in a large number of these buildings. It's very likely that we may have already visited your address in the past!
