Science Vs

Wendy Zukerman, a well known Australian science journalist created Science Vs, a show that takes on everything to do with science, and we mean everything, with a certain swagger that other podcasts struggle to produce. The show lasts for 20 minutes and each episode tackles a news story and explains the science behind it (if there is any science behind it at all).
Science Vs is perfect for beginners, therefore if you’ve never really listened to a science podcast before, the light heart nature of Science Vs with the inclusion of expert interviews will be perfect if you’re stressing over your lab relocation.
Only one season of Science Vs has been released, but a second season is in production and expected to be released in 2016.

60 Second Science

For those of you who just want a quick 60 seconds of science news. Scientific American does a 60 second podcast every single day. Making it perfect for a quick minute break from the stress of work (or your laboratory relocation). The podcasts has guest scientists that discuss their area of expertise as well as giving their view on any interesting science topics in the news.

Skeptics Guide to the Universe

The complete opposite from the podcast above, Skeptics Guide to the Universe has been running since 2005 and now has over 500 episodes. Each episode lasting 80 minutes, therefore you were to watch every single episode back to back it would take you a very long time.
We understand that this may be a little too long, especially to cram in to your lunch break. But if you do ever have a spare hour and twenty minutes then these guys are worth a listen. The host of the show is Steve Novella, a neurologist at Yale University. Each episode he is joined by 4 to 6 ‘skeptical rogues’ to discuss science news and critical thinking. The group has a huge following, especially in the USA.

Radiolab

Somewhere in between the previous two, Radiolab lasts for an ideal time of half an hour. Making it very manageable in your lunch break. Jad Abumrad is the host but it certainly isn’t a one man band as there are a large number of staff, which all together makes for a truly excellent podcast. Abumrad and the team put together an audio story using sound, music and expert interviews in just 30 minutes.

The Naked Scientists

The Naked Scientists is a one hour podcast which is broadcasted out of Cambridge University by the BBC. the podcast deals with the latest science news, listener questions and interesting interviews with scientists.
The Naked Scientists definitely bring a lighter side to science whilst also being informative, it really is the perfect combination for a science podcast.
